I have been using this for a little over a month now and I am sold. I love it, but there is a slight trade off which I cover below.

Coming from a ball head you have total mobility and freedom to put your camera anywhere you want. And while that is amazingly useful, I always find myself struggling to get my composition JUST right. You set it, tighten the knob and it sinks ever so slightly into place.
That last part is where the frustration kicks in. Eventually you just give up and accept a certain amount of sloppiness.
Enter the 3-way geared tripod head.
Is your composition a bit off? A tiny twist of the controls and it's absolutely perfect. Horizon tilted ever so slightly? Corrected in half a second.
It's really been a dream to use when you are serious about your compositions and image quality (much less cropping and straightening).
So what's the downside? Mostly, weight. Compared to other geared tripod heads it's light though! Still you feel it for sure, easy trade off for me, but not everyone and every situation!

It's a bit heavy and makes your tripod a bit top heavy too. It also raises your camera significantly, for better or worse depending on the scenario. I have enjoyed the extra height, but when shooting very low to the ground how low you can go is impacted.
Having used it would I buy one? Yes, I love it and the price is right for me. Will it last? I will definitely find out because it is now a permanent fixture on my tripod.

Im sold on geared tripod heads and so far this one has worked great. A real joy to use if you rely heavily on compositions. Landscape photographers, real estate photographers, architecture photographers and the likes would really benefit from using one, K&F or otherwise!

Q3: How do the micro-adjustment knobs and quick-movement levers work?
A: Each of the three axes features an independent micro-adjustment knob for precise framing. To make large, sweeping adjustments quickly, you simply press or turn the orange quick-release disengagement clutches located at the base of the knobs. Releasing the clutch instantly locks the head back into the geared mechanism, preventing sudden camera drops.
Q4: Is the K&F Concept Geared Head compatible with my existing tripod legs and camera plates?
A: Yes. The base of the geared head features a standard 3/8-inch screw thread, allowing it to mount onto almost any standard professional tripod legs. For camera mounting, it uses an Arca-Swiss compatible quick-release system and comes with a standard 1/4-inch screw quick-release plate.
Q5: What makes the K&F Concept geared head different from more expensive options like the Manfrotto 410?
A: The K&F Concept model offers a highly competitive balance of price, weight, and compatibility. It is lighter than the Manfrotto 410 (which weighs roughly 2.7 lbs) and utilizes a universal Arca-Swiss quick-release system out of the box, whereas the Manfrotto uses a proprietary RC4 plate system. However, the Manfrotto supports a slightly heavier payload.
