This Is Florida! North Peninsula State Park on A1A

This week I traveled down A1A anticipating a very specific shot that I had in mind for my upcoming book. Well as soon as it was in eye sight I knew those plans were done! So in good landscape photographer fashion I had to pull a pivot, push forward and continue my explorations further south.
But all was not lost as I came upon North Peninsula State Park near Ormond Beach. An amazing little park, boat ramp and beach access about 4 miles south of Flagler.
I explored the beach side first and then headed over to the intracoastal side and hiked along the Coastal Strand trail. It's a 2.5 mile trail along the beautiful coastal dunes and scrub oaks.
The beach side is amazing and what I first noticed was the broken coquina shell mixed with the sand. It created subtle tones of orange, blue, purple, green and more. A beautiful beach I will surely revisit after this trip.
Making the most of my time I checked out the Coastal Strand Trail before the sun went down. If you love hiking this is one I wouldnt skip.
Trails winding through pure Florida coastal dunes and scrub land. I was not able to complete the full trail before sunset , but what I did explore was amazing. I kept stopping too much to get it completed in time!
There is also a boat ramp located right across from the trail parking lot.
Eventually I decided I would stay in the area for the night and shoot the beach in the morning. I found a nice little park up for the night in anticipation of some great sunrise photography. Luckily I had no issues and got a good night sleep!
When I woke up at 5 AM the mist was thick and gave a very great mood to the seascape.
I had a lovely morning of photography and came away with some really interesting moody beach photos that I really enjoy (full gallery below).
You never know what kind of curve ball is coming your way, always have a plan B and C ready!
With our first shot not possible we had to push through the unknown and find, not only a place to sleep, but also photograph a brand new location as well.
Never easy, but always exciting!
