Florida landscape photography with Paul Farace!

In this week's photo & video adventures we get lucky with some epic woodland fog magic conditions right at home. Sometimes spontaneous photography is the best kind! I woke up, looked out of my window and quickly jumped out of bed. The fog was so thick I could hardly see outside. Grabbed my gear and was straight out of the door to hit the road.
Sometimes we get lucky! And that's exactly what happened for me two days in a row here in St. Augustine. The first morning I woke up, looked right out of window and saw some of the most amazing fog we have seen in a while.
I grabbed my gear as fast as I could and ran out the door. I went to a spot about 8 minutes from my house where I know there are some great trees to photograph. As I was driving the fog was so thick you could hardly see. Even as the sun was rising it was only a feint glow trhough the atmosphere.

Once we arrived it was just as expected. Bueituful soft painterly like photography. It's almost hard to take a bad shot when the conditions are so nice. I started off with a few shots into the pine trees. They were catching amazing side lighting and drifted off into the fog.

The combination of the blueish fog and yellow side lighting created some wonderfull conditions. This was taken with the just sun over my shoulder taking advantge of the still blueish forest.

Switching the angle a bit offered a totally differnt look. This was taken about 45 degrees to the sun and the foggy background is already lighting up.
I got several photos here, but there is one photos in particular I wanted to reshoot. There is an oak tree set aginst many straight pine trees and it is a very cool composition. So I headed over to the spot and ended up with the photo below.

I love the blue hue from a mysterious forest deep in fog.
After this spot I headed down the road until I saw something to shoot. And it didn't take long with these conditions. There was some private property with some amazing trees drifting out into nothing. I didn't want to trespass but I did sit at their gate and take some telephoto shots! Sorry about that!

I took a few photos of some invidiual trees here which I will add to the gallery below, but I also took a pretty nice panoramic photo of the scene.

After that I went home to edit and thought I was done. That was until I woke up the next morning....
And wow, even thicker fog. I didn't think it was possible. So this time I said ok, no video. I only went and focused on photos. I also went the opposite direction and drove along the St. Johns River on SR 13, a beautiful drive if you are ever in the area.
I'm not sure if it's because the conditions were better, the location worked better, or because I was 100% focused on photography. But this set came out much better in my opinion. Maybe even a portfolio shot in there somewhere.
Here are some of the photos from day 2 and I will put everything in the photo gallery at the end.
2 oaks hugging in the fog, best friends I think.

State Road 13 drifting into the fog.

Undisclosed location, amazing spot but I can't say exactly where.
